Transforming mental healthcare

Congratulations on taking the first steps towards reaching your goals. I am here to help you become better equipped with appropriate coping skills to handle each day with confidence. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping to maximize them to overcome obstacles. I’m here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now and offer you a safe place to be open and honest, without fear of judgment. You’ve taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help. Together we can take it one step at a time, at a pace you feel comfortable with.

Experience

As a therapist, I help others that have been struggling with anxiety and panic disorders to live a more fulfilled life. Imagine a life full of adventure, meaning and satisfying relationships, without those anxious thoughts and tendencies getting in the way. I became a master’s level clinician and started my journey to help others. As a result, I’ve served hundreds of clients from a broad spectrum of socio-economic, cultural, sexual and faith orientations.

Through years of training and experience, I bring a deep understanding of:

    •    The adult and childhood developmental process,

    •    The complexity of anxiety and panic and the effect it has on our daily lives

    •    And effective coping skills to help manage the uncomfortable symptoms of anxiety

My Process

My clients and colleagues tell me I bring an open mind and empathy into all my encounters. My style is pretty laid-back. I’m down to earth, caring, compassionate, and supportive; with a good sense of humor.

My goal is to help clients find both the meaning for their behaviors as well as a clear understanding of what’s holding them back.

I use a process known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is an approach to challenge, and eventually change, our thought process. By changing those thoughts, we eventually change the behavior. The treatment of anxiety needs to pro-active, as well as reactive. We must set ourselves up to reduce our anxiety in our daily lives, but we also need to react to anxiety in a healthy and effective way, when it becomes difficult to overcome.
